Harold "Sam" Rickard, Owner and Chairman
Sam began his career at UCB in 1975. He spent over 10 years in the capacity as a Account Representative and has held every operational management position within the company during the past 31 years. Sam's tenure has given him an intricate knowledge of the entire business, both operational and administrative. Additionally, he has worked closely with our IT group to design and develop our proprietary CUBS software system. Sam is recognized by his peers as one of the most innovative visionaries in the receivable management industry today. UCB's success is greatly attributable to Sam's experience, vision and his dedication to the prosperous future of UCB.
Sanju Sharma, President & CEO
Upon his 1993 graduation from Bowling Green State University, where he earned a B.S. in Finance and Accounting, Sanju joined UCB, and remained until 2000. Thereafter, Sanju held senior management positions with a global receivable management corporation gaining significant additional experience in call center management, including strategic planning, profit and loss analysis, client relationship management, and overall organizational growth development. Sanju rejoined UCB and has delivered exceptional client performance allowing consistent and increasing opportunity for the company through client portfolio growth.
Michael R. Karosas, Chief Operating Officer
Mike joined UCB in August, 2008. With over 20 years of Accounts Receivable Management and Outsourcing experience, Mike brings a wealth of knowledge to an already industry-seasoned team. Mike was formerly the President of Debt Control Center, which sold to a consolidator in 1999, and subsequently the Financial Services Divisional President of the then world's third-largest Accounts Receivable Management firm. Mike has a proven track record of client-performance, operational growth and profitability. Mike graduated from Florida State University with a B.S. degree in Economics. He is a second-generation collection executive who brings personal experience of all facets of an ARM business.
Joan Overcashier, Chief Financial Officer
Joan is a 37 year employee of UCB. She is responsible for overseeing the financial health of the organization. Joan's expertise and experience has been instrumental in guiding the corporation through tremendous change and growth. Today Joan oversees all financial aspects of the corporation including financial accounting and bookkeeping activities. Joan holds a B.S. in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of Toledo.Erin Jacobs, Chief Security Officer / CIO
Erin brings more than 17 years of information technology and information security expertise to UCB. Erin is responsible for providing technical security services to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UCB's information systems and data assets. Prior to her work as Chief Security Officer, Erin served as Director of Information Security and Network Services at the oldest accounts receivable firm in Chicago where she developed the IT infrastructure, security and policy from the ground up. Her unique experience lies in the fusion of collection operation management knowledge and the ability to conjoin security with operation initiatives. She has also worked in various professional and consultant capacities for Ernst & Young LLP and Accenture; including technology, infrastructure services, security operations, and customer and agency call centers. Erin holds a B. A. degree in Management from Columbia Chicago and is in pursuit of her Masters of Science in Information Security Management from SANS Institute.
Phil Solomon, Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing / Chief Client Officer
Phil has a 25 year track record of success designing and implementing business process outsourcing solutions. During the past 17 years of his career, he has been focused exclusively in the receivables outsourcing, collections, customer care and call center industry. He has held executive positions at a Fast Tech 50, call center performance improvement technology firm, and at an INC Magazine top 500 Fastest Growing Private Companies in America providing receivables management solutions. In addition, he managed the Health Care, Commercial and Government markets for one of the largest receivable management companies in the world. He is an active member of the ACA, HFMA, NAHAM, MGMA, AAHAM and the National Association of Call Centers and is frequently featured as a speaker at industry trade conferences and educational seminars. In addition to his role in sales and marketing, Phil serves as Chief Client Officer for the health care group. He is responsible for designing the overall marketing, product development and service offering roadmap for UCB. His experience and leadership impacts all client relationships where he is focused on total client satisfaction. Phil holds a B.A. degree from San Diego State University.
John M. Terry, Vice President / General Counsel
Following John's 1997 admission to the Florida Bar, John joined a small receivable agency where he held the positions of General Counsel and Vice President of Operations. He was employed in the same capacity due to a merger, from 1999 until 2003, by one of the largest collection and customer care companies. John joined UCB in 2003 to assist with the growth and solidification of UCB. John holds a B.A. in International Affairs from The Florida State University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Dayton School of Law.
Mark Beirdneau, Vice President Recovery Information
Systems Mark, a 2004 addition to UCB, has gained considerable systems knowledge specific to collection enterprises throughout his career. He has held information systems leadership positions with IT specialty companies, as well as the one of the largest accounts receivable companies within the United States. Mark has proven an excellent addition to our team and an asset toward the assurance of system preparedness through our growth. Mark attended Brigham Young University where he earned a B.S. in Information Management Systems.Dawn Balduf, Vice President Receivables Outsourcing
Dawn has 17 years of receivables management experience in the healthcare marketplace, both in management with agencies as well as 7 years in a CBO environment with a large hospital system in Toledo, managing self-pay revenue of over $132M. She served on Catholic Healthcare Partner's task force charged with reviewing CHP's guidelines and practices for assisting the self-pay population. Dawn developed an internal Medicaid eligibility unit of 35 staff members. She implemented front-end strategies that took bad debt as a percent of gross revenue from over 5% down to 1.3% over a five-year period. Dawn has a degree from Heidelberg College in business administration with an emphasis on healthcare administration.
